Amusement Park Fees

The cost of taking the family to the amusement park seem to rise much faster than the rate of inflation. It comes down to supply and demand. As long as the demand is strong relative to supply the ticket fees will continue to increase.

Especially as parks begin to reopen post pandemic there are new expenses for them to bear and likely some amenities that are limited (such as pictures with your favorite characters) or eliminated all together.

There are strategies to reduce your fees and make the most of your time. Take the time to research the various packages to get the best value for you. Contact the park in advance and get your questions answered. Prepare a checklist of questions in advance since getting a hold of a live person may be a challenge.

Most larger parks have “express line” or a “fast pass” option where you can pay a premium to get into shorter lines or some form of quicker access. This might be worth it if it helps avoid staying a 2nd day and booking a hotel, meals, etc. If you don’t mind the people-watching and standing line is accepted, then you can avoid these fees.

Reduce your amusement park fees

Timing is key as well. Like booking most trips or services, high demand periods usually equate to higher prices.

One of the most common complaints and possible basis for a partial refund is that key rides may be out of service without you being aware.

Unfortunately mechanical elements have unexpected breakdowns. Of course, this is usually in a park’s legal disclaimer but if it’s excessive you could have a strong case for a complaint and refund.

You may not get a monetary refund so be prepared for reasonable concessions and have a counter-offer ready.
